New PC Builder Software Version From Eurosoft

Bournemouth, UK - 16 December 2002

Eurosoft (UK) Ltd. has launched version 6.50 of PC Builder, Eurosoft’s latest development in computer hardware test management software, which is used worldwide by computer manufacturers and system builder organizations. PC Builder tests, tracks and reports on computer hardware throughout all stages of the manufacturing process from component selection, throughout assembly and production, and during repair services.

This latest release of PC Builder 6.50 is helping manufactures and system builders of all sizes to reliably build and support a variety of computer systems. At the touch of a button, PC Builder fully automates the manufacturing cycle by managing repetitive physical tasks that lead to mis-configured computer systems such as updating component part lists, and identifying configure-to-order systems from standard build-to-order systems by using PC Builder’s new QaAutoparts function. More importantly, PC Builder’s latest QA+ diagnostic software delivers significant diagnostic tests to the component hardware making certain the computer is built correctly and runs reliably. PC Builder assists production managers by concentrating line staff on to areas where they are needed most.

Manufacturers can now track the real-time progress of each computer built using PC Builder’s new QaYield module. This is a significant feature, particularly for medium to large tier manufacturers who build and distribute varying volumes of computers. QaYield tracks and graphs the actual yield flow of the production process. QaYield monitors fully passed computers as well as component failure by computer, batch and line location. Its status can be presented as a Pareto chart, scatter graph or bar chart.

Stephen Rowley, Eurosoft's Technical Manager for Europe, said: "Over the past year, we have worked with our customer base to extract the best practices of PC manufacturing so we could develop support features into PC Builder wherever possible. This input has given us the direction for a fresh development path. Manufacturers will really experience a difference using PC Builder version 6.50. The most noticeable difference is a higher volume of PCs out the door – working first time. And, a massive reduction in returned PCs, and that is where the greatest drain on profits occurs."

PC Builder is shipping now. There are eight modules that make up the PC Builder test framework including: QaAdministrator server, QaPartsSetup with QaAutoparts, QaScan work order scan, QaController test director, QaInspector error code setter, QaDataViewer system reporter, QA+ diagnostic test plus development utilities for manufacturers’ specific needs.
